A bit of easterly swell is running at the minute but the wind direction hampered things a little and it wasn’t at the size anticipated but there was still a wave to be had…
Amazing what you find washed up on the rocks…the harmonica not the surfer!
As the fourth day breaks on the north east coast there was still a wave coming through at THE spot that’s being working recently albeit a little smaller and with less power as the swell eases back for now.
But it was still enough to have some fun with…
After a couple of grey, wet and overcast days that brought heavy rain showers and challenging photography conditions the light really came on today and transformed this spot from what we all expect in this part of the world to somewhere that looked almost Indo like…well, almost…with a good dash of imagination!!
Enjoy the pictures.
A cold, wet, grey and generally miserable day was made all the more enjoyable today by some top surf that rolled in and which a few hardy souls made the most of.
But first….. those of you who know me know that I NEVER name the spots I photograph in nor do I pass on to anyone else where I have photographed. This is done to try and retain at least some anonymity for that ever elusive ‘secret spot’ – a rare thing indeed along this coastline nowadays.
Those who know this spot and who surf here will obviously know it well, but please, if you share this post or are asked by those that may not know where this is, not that it is particularly difficult to work out, keep it to yourselves if you can….let’s not tell everyone.
Here’s a few of my pictures today…
The UK Pro Surf Tour came to Saltburn this weekend and fortunately the surf, the weather and the standard of surfing all made for a great weekend of competition surfing on this leg of the tour. Newquay’s Russell Winter eventually took the men’s title with Keshia Eyre originally from Manchester but who now who lives in Portugal taking the top slot for the women.
From here the tour now heads north to Thurso in Scotland before dropping back down in a few weeks to Tynemouth.
In between trying to take advantage of the surf and grabbing a few quick sessions myself I shot a few pictures during the competition…..
Further info on the tour can be found by following the link here….. http://www.ukprosurf.com/

Following on from the monster day yesterday the surf was significantly smaller today but there were still a few cheeky ones coming through to give the line up a bit of a clean-up and with waves to be had it was worth a dip…
